In college, I pondered the thought of studying broadcast journalism. But my love for Shakespeare won me over and instead I headed down the path towards English Literature.
Now, after all these years I often wonder what it’d be like to host my own show.
I auditioned for The Oprah Winfrey Network and did a FANTASTIC job (if I must say so myself) but my show idea wasn’t original. So, I didn’t get the job. Now I spend time flipping television channels secretly wishing to take the place of the hosts I see on various programs.
One such host, that I am absolutely enamored with, is Melissa Harris Perry. The MHP show airs on MSNBC Saturdays and Sundays at 10 am Eastern. Along with hosting her show, Harris-Perry serves on the faculty of Tulane University as a political science professor and is an author.
She’s so smart. She’s so funny. And she’s so…normal. She’s like my really, really, really smart girlfriend who reads lots of books and knows lots of people and just wants to make the world a better place for everyone.
I appreciate the confabulation between Harris-Perry and her guest because they keep me interested in subjects that I previously had no interest in.
Harris-Perry is definitely doing her part to bridge the gap of misunderstand and to create a more just society. Be sure to check her out on MSNBC.Pin It
