Team Blackberry

Sometimes I take pictures of myself…lots and lots of pictures of myself. My phone, which I’ve had about two months, has this fabulous flash that makes me look fantastic in pictures. I love it.

I’m really pleased with my Blackberry Torch. When I went in to buy a new cell phone I had my mind set on an iPhone, but not my heart. I only considered an iPhone because Mr. Incredible thinks his iPhone is the best thing since sliced cheese. So instead of listening to him constantly make fun of my Blackberry I decided to buy an iPhone.

Once I got to the store I panicked. I just couldn’t do it. I loved my Blackberry Curve. And while it was time for an upgrade I wasn’t ready to switch over to an iPhone . I’m team Blackberry all the way!

The sales associate, sensing my displeasure with the iPhone, pointed me to the Torch. I wanted the convenience of  a touch screen but the ease of a keyboard. And with the Torch I get both all in one phone.

I’m 100% happy with my Blackberry Torch and I’ll probably continue taking millions of photos of myself. And just in case you were wondering….NO I  WAS NOT at work when I took this photo. #lying

What type of cell phone do you have? What’s your favorite feature of your phone?

Bernie,The Blackberry Gets A Bath

My phone has been acting a little screwy lately. I haven’t been receiving any email or Facebook updates. So, I reluctantly took it to the AT&T store to get some expert advice. I was apprehensive about going to the store because- above all else- I hate, absolutely hate, when people touch my phone.

I think I have a slight case of OCD or ADHD or whatever you call it when you’re obsessed with various things. Well, I’m obsessed with decreasing my exposure to other people’s germs. I DO NOT touch public doorknobs. I DO NOT shake hands. I always keep Clorox wipes with me; and I spray Lysol profusely.

So, you can imagine how I feel about my new Blackberry Torch. I didn’t want to go to the service center because I knew that a salesman would have to put his muggy hands on my phone. And boy were his hands muggy! The dirt under his fingernails was so thick I’m sure he had not washed his hands in a few days.

I was so disgusted. After a certain point I began to care very little about my nonexistant email alerts and just wanted my phone back.  As the salesman slithered his fingers all over my phone I daydreamed about soaking Bernie, The Blackberry, in Pine Sol, rubbing alcohol, or anything that would free it of the germs that were being spread all over it.

Finally, the dirty salesman returned my phone and I rushed out of the store to scrub Bernie with an entire pack of wet wipes.

How do you feel about people using your cell phone? Are you disgusted by germs, too? Or am I just crazy?

Oprah in Atlanta

It was amazing; life-changing; spiritual. Finally, after nearly 20 years of waiting I got to see my girl, Oprah, in person. I was so close to her I could see her false eye-lashes. I hung on to every word she spoke. I tried my hardest to fight back my tears for fear of looking like a complete nut to the people around me.

She’s so damn smart. She just makes you want to be better. Oprah makes you think about things in a way that you’ve never thought about them before. She inspires you. She motivates you. I was in awe.

It’s  evident that she cares about the people around her. And that’s what I admire about her. As I’ve written before: When I see Oprah I see the possibility of what my life can become. Oprah is amazing.

Here are a few pictures from the event. I would have had much more but my stupid a** camera died and I was unable to retrieve any of my other pictures. How sad!

Blogger Burn Out

I’m bored….with this blog. I’ve been feeling this way for a few months but scared to admit it to myself, and you. I don’t really know what to do or how to get out of this funk.

Lately, blogging has been a huge burden.  I think of writing new post but I quickly change my mind because I’m just not motivated. I just don’t care.

This has become more than the usual writer’s block. Sometimes I get stuck on what I should write. Or I have a difficult time coming up with content for my blog. But this is more that a simple case of writer’s block.

I have lots of things I could write about, my crazy job, how much I miss my mom,  reaching the finish line of grad school, etc. I just don’t want to write about any of it. Over the past few weeks I’ve had to force myself to log on to this blog to approve comments on older posts. It’s a struggle. I’m bored with it all.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy visiting other blogs and reading as well as commenting on various posts. I’m just uninterested in MY blog. I’ve tried lots of different methods to rekindle my connection with social media. I’ve uploaded a different background and placed various new headers on this site. I’ve implemented my 30 days of blogging series which lasted for longer than sixty days. I’ve even tried stepping away from my blog for a few days just to gain a fresh perspective. But it hasn’t worked. I’m burnt out.

What should I do?

Resurrected, Like Lazarus

I am thrilled…overjoyed even. Today, after a complete month of agony, I am blogging from my very own PC, Petunia. My dear sweet Petunia had fallen ill a few weeks ago due to a very nasty virus that she caught. The virus almost took her out. In fact, it did take her out along with all of the pictures, documents, files, videos, etc. that were stored on her hard drive. My pink laptop had to visit the electronics hospital all the way in Kentucky, USA to get well. She’s much better now….100% back to normal.

I’m so happy to have her with me. It’s like I have a new computer. Well, I do have a new one…because the “geniuses” at the electronics hospital were unable to restore any of my files. So, I’m starting with a clean slate. And I’m OK with that. Admittedly, it took a few days of  temper tantrums then sulking for a while to get over the loss of the files I had taken years to collect. But I’m OK now. I’m just happy to have “Tunie” back.

I’m not ashamed of the names that I’ve given my toys. Along with Petunia, the pink laptop, I have Bernie the BlackBerry and Kodi my new Kodak Playsport camera.(Not to mention my vehicle, Suzie 2- named after Suzie 1- who was totaled by Mr. Incredible in a car accident a few years ago).

Since I have Tunie back with me I’m gonna be a vlogging fool for the next couple of days. This month my YouTube channel has been dead. But now that my PC has been resurrected, I’m gonna vlog away. So go subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on my foolishness.

Do you have a nick name for your electronics? Has your computer ever crashed?

This Post Sucks

I was reluctant to post today. I didn’t think I’d have time with all the craziness involved with the start of a new school year. But I forced myself to sit down and wax poetic about…….something.

My computer is still not working. Mr.  Incredible is on the phone right now with Wal-Mart customer service discussing all of the bells and whistles that are included in my 2 year warranty.

I don’t think they can fix the lap top or retrieve the information that is on my hard drive. My poor Petunia is fried to a crisp.

I’m stuck with this dinosaur desktop that we bought when we first got married…… 11 years ago. The space bar keeps getting stuck so I have to constantly press the backspace button and separate all of my words that are smashed together. How frustrating.

Well, this will just about do it for my daily post. I know my writing has been kinda sucky lately. I offer no excuses except to tell you that I started back to work last week after a crazy 2 months off. So my priorities have been a little off lately.

Once things settle down in the Grant household I hope to get back to my Shakespeare-type writing.
